Music production is one of MOTION Director Candace Mackie's favorite parts of any project. And a huge reason is getting to work with Grant Fonda, who has written the scores for all three of the major projects we've produced, including Journey to Hope.
"In Journey to Hope, Grant brings an incredible amount of emotion through his themes and melodies, weaving them in and out of the story with intentionality," Candace shares. "His score feels like an invisible character – guiding what you feel as the story unfolds."
Grant calls scoring Journey to Hope "rich and rewarding."
"It's a great privilege to see the level of trust my team and I received while penning themes and creating the musical palette for the series, and I was particularly inspired by the vibrancy of the art and character design that form the basis of the animation," Grant said. "The score fuses traditional instruments and musical tendencies of Southeast Asia with a more modern cinematic orchestral landscape."
Grant's team worked with the Nashville Scoring Orchestra to bring the music to life.
"I hope that as you listen, you'll be reminded of not only the vibrancy of the gospel narrative, but that you'll also see (hear) our Redeemer threaded through the entirety of the story," Grant said.
Our team has often been moved to tears as we listened to the music while working on various aspects of the production.
"We're so excited for you to finally hear it on its own," Candace said. "I hope you enjoy it and find yourself replaying the stories in your head, just like I do."
